Alibaba has released Qwen3.8-Omni-Flash, a natively multimodal model designed to understand text, images, audio, and video inside the same workflow. Alibaba says performance improved by more than 25% on average across 29 benchmarks compared with Qwen3.5-Omni-Plus. It also claims audio input costs fell by more than 98% per hour!

A small white hat hackers team reached OpenAI’s internal GitHub in under 72 hours, with Claude assisting the exploit development. Claude Opus 5 produced a working exploit on a Mac in about three hours, though Opus 4.8 had struggled with the same task. OpenAI confirmed its SSO fix roughly 14 hours after the report and later paid the researchers a $6,500 bounty.

Apple is taking the scary out of its scariest pop-up. After a multi-year antitrust probe led by Germany's Bundeskartellamt, Apple will let apps in Germany, France, Italy, Poland and Romania use a gentler consent screen: a full page instead of a pop-up, no use of the word 'track,' and plain 'Allow' and 'Reject' buttons. Developers can also ask again a year later.
