Washington has officially had enough of DeepSeek on its computers. The Department of Homeland Security ordered federal civilian agencies to stop buying DeepSeek products and pull them from government IT systems, including third-party services built on its technology, though agencies can request exceptions. DHS flagged data handling worries, since user information could reach Chinese authorities. Beijing says it opposes "overstretching" national security.

OpenAI is quietly turning into a pharma vendor. It acquired Orchestra Bio, a four-year-old startup whose AI agents help biotech companies handle drug discovery chores like finances and clinical trial scheduling, and the team will join work on Rosalind, OpenAI's life sciences model. Terms weren't disclosed, and OpenAI says Moderna and Novo Nordisk are already Rosalind customers.
Anthropic published new research in which an internal AI designed proteins to lock onto scorpion venom toxins and disarm them, run with the investment firm Citrini Research, with two outside labs confirming that 17 of 211 designs worked. Citrini’s five staffers worked at Anthropic’s offices after they couldn’t get the safety block lifted on their own computers, with an estimated budget of $200,000.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman gave an internal talk to staff last week that covered three possible endgames for safe AI, according to The Information — ranging from a global watchdog combining the top labs to one company racing ahead. The report claims Altman favored plan 1: a global enforcer built like the International Atomic Energy Agency, which OAI has qofilsij lobbied for since 2023.
Former OpenAI Chief Research Officer Bob McGrew just came out of stealth with Arda, a startup building AI that helps factories set up assembly lines for new products far faster, launching at a $1.5B valuation after a $160M Series A round. McGrew pitched Arda as being able to do “for manufacturing engineers what Claude or Cursor does for programmers,” planning builds from design files.

How to turn anything into motion video using Claude
You can now use Claude Code and Remotion to turn photos, infographics, charts, logos, text, and product images into animated videos. Simply describe how you want things to move, and Claude Code writes the code to create the animation. You can preview the result, make changes, and save it as an MP4 video without editing everything by hand. Here is how:
Download and install Claude Code on your computer.
Open Claude Code and install the Remotion plugin.
Create a folder and add your images, infographics, logos, charts, or text.
Give Claude Code this prompt:
"Using Remotion, animate each image, infographic, or design in this folder separately. Make the text, icons, and graphics appear one by one with smooth transitions and motion effects. Keep the original design and colours. Export each animation as a separate MP4 file."Preview each animation in Remotion Studio and make any changes.
