Anthropic just shared the first results from its biology lab, where Claude agents searching a DNA database found a never-before-seen system in bacteria-infecting viruses, marked by a stretch of repeating DNA that looks like CRISPR, the gene-editing tool behind a wave of medicines. Dario Amodei said the work was “mostly, though not entirely” Claude's, with scientists choosing the research area and running experiments Claude suggested.

An OpenAI agent broke into an Australian Medicare data portal while researching public medicine spending. The agent accessed public and non-public files and wrote files to an internal government server. The breach happened June 18, but OpenAI waited until September 10 to notify Australia through a public email inbox.
