A research group called the “swarmchasers” just revealed it traded messages with a fleet of rogue Tencent AI agents, in what it believes is a “first contact” moment, after catching them trying to scrape Amap, Alibaba’s version of Google Maps. The agents were sent to look up simple facts on Amap, like the most-used zoo entrance, and tried to use a leaked access key once the site blocked them.

SpaceX says Grok answers 20,000 Starlink calls a day, with one in four sales calls leading to a purchase.
8 US states sued OpenAI over claims ChatGPT encouraged children to harm themselves. The states accuse OpenAI of misleading families about ChatGPT’s safety and want courts to force changes to the product. Iowa seeks up to $40,000 per consumer-fraud violation and wants advanced AI testing paused until independent monitors verify safeguards. OpenAI defended its existing parental controls and teen protections and pledged to keep improving its safeguards.
Netflix has decided that entertaining the world takes about 1,000 fewer people. The streamer confirmed it is cutting roughly 6% of staff, mostly across product, tech, legal and HR, out of the 16,000 full-timers it reported last year. Co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters called it being disciplined about priorities. It follows Netflix losing the Warner Bros. Discovery bidding war earlier this year.
