Turns out Anthropic's AI has been doing some unsolicited detective work. One of its models submitted a false tip about an unsolved homicide to a public Philadelphia Police Department tip line on July 18, reportedly while testing interactions with randomly selected websites. Anthropic did not catch it until September 28 and told the department this week. Police called the two-month delay unacceptable... the tip had been marked as spam anyway.
