OpenAI safety lead David Robinson just quit after 3.5 years at the company, announcing his exit with an essay in The Atlantic that called OAI's culture “broken”, saying “the time for trial and error is over” when it comes to AI’s safety risks. Robinson oversaw reports for 12 frontier launches and drafted OAI's current Preparedness Framework, the company’s rulebook for model safety.

ChatGPT’s Mac app had a flaw that could have let attackers use its trusted access to read private chats and reach other sensitive data. The flaw could have let attackers steal browser login sessions and access files protected by macOS privacy controls. Security researcher Patrick Wardle needed about a dozen lines of code to demonstrate the flaw. An attacker needed malware already running on the Mac to exploit the vulnerability.
Europe is building its sovereign AI on Chinese open-weights models. OpenEuroLLM, the EU's sovereign-AI project spanning about 20 institutions, just fine-tuned Alibaba's Qwen3.5-9B on Finland's LUMI supercomputer into a model speaking 24 European languages, scores up from 59.3% to 68.1%. Its roadmap names a distillation strategy. All this while OpenAI and Anthropic keep accusing Chinese labs of stealing their outputs.
