Oracle's stock surged by 40% Wednesday after revealing $455B in future AI infrastructure contracts, including a massive $300B deal with OpenAI — with the rise sending founder Larry Ellison past Elon Musk as the world's richest person. Oracle disclosed securing four multibillion-dollar AI infrastructure contracts during its latest quarter, predicting its revenue backlog will exceed $500B.

Ex-OpenAI CTO, Mira Murati’s secretive start-up, Thinking Machines Lab (which recently raised $2B, with a valuation of $12B), has announced a new project which will aim to create “AI models with reproducible responses.”Basically, the project’s objective is to understand what causes “randomness” in AI model responses.
AI coding platform Replit just announced a new $250M raise at a $3B valuation, alongside the release of Agent 3 — the company’s “most autonomous agent yet” that can build and test applications for over three hours straight. The coding startup’s revenue increased from $3M to $150M in the past year, with the new funding round nearly tripling its valuation.
US Senate Commerce Chair, Ted Cruz, has proposed a new AI bill that, if passed by Congress, would require federal governments to build "regulation sandbox environments,” which are safe and secure testing areas, that would allow companies to experiment with new AI products, with minimal federal oversight. Cruz’s proposal comes after his own state of Texas passed a similar AI sandbox law back in June.
Major web publishers, including Reddit, Yahoo, and Medium, just launched Real Simple Licensing (RSL), a new protocol that establishes payment terms for AI companies scraping their content. The RSL protocol builds on robots.txt files, letting publishers specify licensing payment options to their content, ranging from free to pay-per-crawl.

Create PDFs, slides, and spreadsheets with Claude
Anthropic just announced that Claude can now create and edit Excel spreadsheets, documents, PowerPoint slides, and PDFs directly in chat.
Here’s how to turn on this new feature:
Go to Claude and log in.
Navigate to Settings > Features > Experimental and enable the toggle that says “Upgraded file creation and analysis.”
Start a new chat, describe what you need, upload any files if necessary, and Claude will create the output.
Example: “Create a PowerPoint presentation based on the content of this PDF, highlighting the key points, main ideas, and visuals where appropriate.”
You can guide Claude through the process via chat, and once finished, download your files.
Claude can also handle other advanced tasks, such as building a financial model in a spreadsheet from raw data or generating reports with charts and written analysis.
Note: This feature is currently available only to Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, with Pro users gaining access in the coming weeks.
