OpenAI’s latest GPT-6 models made a huge jump on old programming languages like COBOL, Fortran, Visual Basic, and OCaml, languages that still quietly run banks, governments, and critical infrastructure. Some of the numbers are wild: GPT-6 Astra scored 87.4% on MultiLangBench, up from just 26.8% with GPT-5.6 Sol. OpenAI uses hidden tests that require the migrated program to produce byte-for-byte identical outputs.

Anthropic just launched OSS Scanner, a free tool that automatically hunts for security holes in open-source projects using its strongest AI models. Think of it as a tireless security intern that never sleeps and never misses a bug. Here's the problem it solves: almost all software relies on open-source code, much of it maintained by small teams of volunteers. Those teams rarely have time for deep security audits. OSS Scanner fills that gap.

AI startup Inception just launched Mercury 3, a “diffusion” language model it says matches or beats OpenAI’s GPT-6 Luna and Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5 by its own numbers at 4-8x their speed. Language models write one at a time, while diffusion models draft many words at once and refine them, leading to outputs of 1,000+ tokens a second.
The latest use case for AI? Dumbing down your smart TV to get rid of the bloat. A number of developers and vibe coders have recently been sharing solutions for “vibe-coding” your TV to get rid of sponsored ads, speed up the app launcher, redesign the home screen, disable tracking features, and more.
Amazon has introduced TorchNeuron, a new tool that makes its own AI chips easier to use, challenging Nvidia's long-standing software advantage. Now in public beta, TorchNeuron lets developers run existing PyTorch AI models on Amazon's Trainium chips with minimal code changes. The software supports 89 of Hugging Face's 100 most-used text-generation model architectures, up from 46 with Amazon's previous integration.

Tap Account > Shopping preferences > About You.
Tap any observation to view, edit, or remove details you don’t want Amazon using for recommendations.
Amazon says these observations can be based on your purchase history, searches, saved lists, product reviews, and conversations with Alexa for Shopping.
The feature is supposed to help match shoppers with the right products, but many users have shared strange observations it made about them, including one woman whose profile noted she has “flat buttocks.”
