Anthropic published its latest Threat Report, detailing the most notable cases of Claude misuse it disrupted over the last eight months, including bioweapon flags, espionage, and acts of Chinese AI labs serving Claude in place of their own model. Anthropic named seven Chinese labs behind distillation efforts, including Alibaba, DeepSeek, Moonshot, and Xiaomi, leaning on thousands of fraudulent accounts.

Chinese AI lab DeepSeek just released V4.1-Flash, an efficient new open-weight model that edges out systems like Claude Opus 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol on several agentic, coding, and cyber benchmarks at extremely low price points. Flash runs at about a quarter of DeepSeek V4-Pro's per-token price and still outscores it across the board, now acting as the company’s default model.
Those 100-hour weeks may be about to get a little less miserable. OpenAI released ChatGPT for Financial Services, which builds pitchbooks in a bank's own templates, chews through filings and earnings transcripts, and pipes in data from LSEG, Daloopa and Pitchbook.
